SUMMER WEATHER PROCEDURES & PROTOCOL
In the event of heat alert or extreme heat alert all outdoors activities will be suspended. Educators will incorporate indoor gross motor activities for these days.

- Apply sunscreen to the children at least 30 minutes before going outside.
- Ensure children are hydrated.
- Encourage frequent drinking to ensure adequate hydration.
- Check the temperature of metal and plastic playground equipment.
- Ensure children are wearing the proper clothing attire (hat, loose clothing, sunglasses).
- Be aware of signs and symptoms of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Follow first aid procedures promptly.

WINTER WEATHER PROCEDURES & PROTOCOL
In the event of severe weather, it may be necessary to keep our school closed. This decision will be made by Lena and communicated to the parents via our Facebook page, telephone and/or email. Although the decision to close may not be favoured by all Parents/Guardians, it will be a judgement call based on the safety of the Staff, children and their families.
We encourage you to make precautionary arrangements ahead of time if you know that a winter storm is coming. Always be prepared for the worst case scenario. In the event of severe weather, we will open the doors as soon as the first staff person is available to get to the centre, which will be as close to 7am as possible. If bad weather continues to develop during the day, please make arrangements to leave work early to ensure safe and timely pickup.
If we call you during the day to say that the Daycare is closing early due to severe weather conditions, you must pick up your child by the designated time. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Children's Choice Daycare has implemented a policy that if the temperature is -11 Degrees Celsius or lower, including the wind chill, Educators are to provide indoor gross motor activities.
